Custom functions and parameters

One final twist, to round out our understanding of the powers of scripting: Many official functions are hard-coded into Lingo, and you can create custom functions when the need arises. If you write a handler that does nothing but retrieve a particular kind of data when called, that handler can be said to be a function as well.

Try it for yourself. Let's say you find yourself frequently calculating the cubic volume of spaces. You know the formula is width times length times height, but there's no Lingo volume function to crunch the numbers for you. So you roll your own.
