Preparing for cross-platform productions

In theory, the differences between Macintosh-based and Windows-based Director movies are minimal. In reality, there are complications (as usual). Although the folks at Macromedia did an admirable job of smoothing the transition between platforms, there's no hiding the fact that the Macintosh can do some things a Windows-capable PC can't, and vice versa; incompatibilities and problems in translations inevitably occur. It's a relatively easy matter to become aware of these differences and compensate for them, and it's definitely easier to compensate than to rebuild your production from scratch on each platform, which is the porting option with some other multimedia software.

The primary platform differences

Some things just aren't the same for the realms of both Windows and Macintosh. Here are some of the primary inconsistencies you'll encounter in the porting process:
