  • To create a child object, first write a parent script. Use the new command to create the child object from the parent script.

  • Property variables are declared with the property keyword.

  • The me variable is generally used to specify a particular child object.

  • Child objects not only have parents; they can also have ancestors. Ancestors are specified by setting a child object's ancestor property. Child objects can use properties defined in their parent script and in the parent's ancestors. This is called inheritance.

  • Child objects don't have physical manifestations; they exist entirely in RAM. When all references to the child object are erased, the child object is removed from memory.

  • The actorList list is a built-in list for Director. Objects in actorList receive a stepMovie message every time a frame is reached.
