Chapter 19. Parent/Child Lingo > Customizing child objects

Customizing child objects

Our exercise has produced a bona fide parent script and two child objects, but we're still some distance from illuminating all the practical possibilities. We could create dozens of objects from our parent, but they'd all still have the same personality. How can we make each one truly unique?

Adding custom properties

The answer is to declare custom properties and allow each child object to have its own value for these properties. If we can identify the points of individuality in the parent script, we can supply the necessary customizing information with each child object.
