Part II: Digging Deeper > Scripting with Net-Savvy Lingo

Chapter 14. Scripting with Net-Savvy Lingo

Taking the online plunge

Director online file access

Introducing NetLingo

Points to remember

All the way back in Chapter 5, we introduced Shockwave, but Shockwave is only one of the means Director 8 provides to take advantage of online access. In this chapter, we'll look into the capabilities provided to help you use elements stored in remote locations while you are authoring. You or others working on your project can store media to be used in a movie on a remote site and then access that media as you need it in your movie. Even the movie itself can be stored at a remote location and opened by Director running on your system. We'll also take a look at how to use Lingo to download or preload media from a remote site while your movie is running.
