Chapter 15. Deeper into Shockwave > Using SWA compression with internal sounds

Using SWA compression with internal sounds

Here's another way to put at least part of the technology of Shockwave Audio to work. The Publish Settings dialog box (from the File menu) allows you to apply Shockwave compression to internal sounds. This doesn't churn out SWA files or make use of any of the specialized Lingo; it just uses some of the Shockwave compression algorithms to save the conventional sounds imported as internal Cast members within your movie. If you use a lot of internal sounds in your movie, compressing internal sounds can significantly decrease your file size and the time required to download from the Internet. Note that although you get the compression, you don't have the ability to stream internal sounds.

  1. From the File menu, choose Publish Settings.

  2. Click the Compression tab.
