Chapter 11. Deeper into Lingo > Using alert boxes

Using alert boxes

Anyone who's used a Windows or Macintosh system for a while is familiar with alert boxes: the messages the system presents when it needs your immediate attention. Unlike other dialog boxes, an alert box usually appears to the accompaniment of a system beep and includes only one button (which you're supposed to click after you've read the message). No other operations can be performed until you click OK.

It's easy to add these official-looking boxes to your own productions. When you create a self-running file (with a projector), using alert boxes helps provide the standardized look and feel of a regular application.
