Locking sprites

The sprite we are using to constrain the moveable Swifty is on top of the other sprites. That makes it impossible to select a sprite on the Stage, because the covering sprite always gets selected. Although you can still select any sprite by going to the Score, there is a handy trick, new to Director 8, that makes this easier: locking sprites. When a sprite is locked, you can't do much to it, including select it. Just about the only thing you can do is unlock it. This can be very handy for situations like this since, with the overlaying sprite locked, you can click to select sprites below it. You'll also find it convenient when you have numerous small sprites close together and have a hard time selecting the one you want.

There are a number of ways to toggle the locking of a sprite (including working from the Modify menu, the Property Inspector, and the Sprite Toolbar), but my favorite is right-clicking
