Chapter 11. Working with Style Sheets

Chapter 11. Working with Style Sheets

You can do a variety of things with basic HTML tags; you can arrange objects and format text, but you can't position text precisely, and you can't always format it exactly as you need to. If you're used to using style sheets in word processing and desktop publishing tools, HTML's limitations can be frustrating.

Adobe GoLive includes support for Cascading Style Sheets Level 1 (CSS1), a method of separating formatting instructions from structure and content. You can use GoLive's familiar tools and Inspectors to avoid most of the coding normally associated with creating style sheets.

In this chapter, I cover:

  • How style sheets work

  • Types of style sheets

  • Creating style sheets

  • Selectors

  • Adding properties

  • Cascading and inheritance

  • Applying style sheets
