Chapter 5. Working with Images > Importing Images

Importing Images

You can use GoLive either to save an imported image in a Web-friendly format for uploading with the page you're creating, or as a low-quality placeholder that you can use to preview the image on the page as you work on it.

GoLive can import Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator files as well as PICT (a Macintosh format), BMP, TIFF, PCX, and a number of other graphics formats. While you can use an application like Photoshop, or its Web image-making companion, ImageReady, to save GIFs or JPEGs for the Web, you can't fully manipulate the image once it has been saved for the Web. But GoLive allows you to both view a Web-friendly version of the image, and edit the original in its native application. When you edit the original image, the preview version that appears in your GoLive document is updated.
