Chapter 5. Working with Images

Chapter 5. Working with Images

Images bring Web pages to life. They may be pictures that accompany text, buttons, or navigation elements. They may even be animated.

Unlike text that exists as part of a Web page, images are external files that are connected to a Web page via hyperlinks. HTML and Adobe GoLive allow you to specify a number of image attributes that change the appearance of pictures or alter their relationship with surrounding elements.

GoLive, which is brought to you by the same folks who built Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, along with the new kid on the block, Adobe LiveMotion, includes a number of features that make it easier to integrate image building in other Adobe applications with GoLive.

In this chapter, I cover:

  • Understanding images on the Web

  • Adding images to a Web page

  • Importing images

  • Modifying image attributes

  • Creating image maps

  • Working with Save for Web

  • Using layered Photoshop images
