Chapter 9. Working with Frames > Adding Inline Frames

Adding Inline Frames

Standard frames always have at least one edge along the browser window's margin. Inline frames, also called floating frames, are not constrained in this way, but can "float" in the middle of a page. Inline frames are a Microsoft addition to the HTML standard, and are compatible only with Internet Explorer browsers (version 3.0 and above). You can create inline frames in GoLive, but you must use Internet Explorer to preview them.

Unlike standard frames, inline frames can appear within any HTML page. You don't need to create a frameset, or use other frames with an inline frame. Inline frames have many of the same attributes as image tags. Like images, inline frames take a position on a Web page relative to other items on the page.
