Chapter 10. Working with Code

Chapter 10. Working with Code

Adobe GoLive is a visual tool for Web site development that allows you to design sites without getting your hands dirty or having to learn or edit HTML code. But as appealing as visual page design is, there are times when it is necessary to work with HTML directly.

GoLive includes two HTML editing views: the HTML Outline Editor and the HTML Source Editor. The HTML Outline Editor presents HTML pages in a hierarchical, organized fashion. The HTML Source Editor breaks down all barriers between the Web page author and the HTML underlying the page.

Once you've had your first taste of Web page coding, you'll learn about some specialized HTML tags that add information about your document, such as Head tags. You can work with and add your own HTML tags in Web Settings, a tool that helps you and GoLive keep up with the ever-changing HTML standard. In this chapter, I cover:

  • Using the HTML Outline Editor

  • The Markup tree

  • Working with the HTML Source Editor

  • Using the Source Code window and Layout Editor together

  • Head tags

  • Using Web Settings

  • Dynamic components
