Exporting a Site

If you're not quite ready to upload your site, or if you need to prepare it according to a structure established by your Webmaster or ISP, you can use the Export Site command as the first step to publishing the site to a Web server.

Although most people won't find the Export option a better choice than using FTP, there are a few circumstances in which it could be useful. If, for example, your Web server is a Mac or PC on your network, you can export a site and drag it into the proper directory on the server using the familiar Finder or Windows Explorer interface and using your existing file access privileges. You can also specify publishing options, like requiring that an exported site include only files that are being used within the site, or that include a Publish state ("flag").
