The FTP Browser

Just like any FTP client (you may have used Fetch, Anarchie, Transmit, WS-FTP, CuteFTP, or a Web browser to exchange files with an FTP server), GoLive can upload and download files—from one file at a time to a whole site's worth. The GoLive FTP browser is designed to let you pick and choose files to copy, and to give you a clear picture of the directory structure available on your FTP server. Like other FTP tools, it can also be used to grab any file stored on a remote server, whether or not it's a component of your Web site.

To configure the FTP browser:

1.
Choose Edit > Preferences.

2.
Click the triangle (Mac) or plus sign (Windows) next to the Network label and click FTP Server (Figure 16.1).

3.
Click the New button to activate the fields at the bottom of the window (Figure 16.2).

4.
Enter the URL of your server, the directory path to your files, and your username and password. If you don't have this infor-mation, contact your Webmaster or ISP.

5.
To add another server, repeat steps 3 and 4.

6.
When you've finished adding servers, click OK to close the Preferences window.
