Chapter 1. Learning Your Way Around

Chapter 1. Learning Your Way Around

When you open the Adobe GoLive application, you will see that there's a lot happening on screen. The GoLive desktop is not simply a place to create Web pages—it's an environment with professional tools and lots of different ways to look at the page or entire Web site you're working on. Like other Adobe applications, GoLive uses a number of palette windows to provide access to tools and configuration options. The Document window, where you build your pages, provides several ways to look at the same information. There's a context-sensitive toolbar showing text formatting tools as you build the page, site management options for keeping large groups of pages under control, and so on.

In this chapter, I'll give you a quick tour of GoLive, touching on the following:

  • The GoLive desktop

  • The Document window

  • The toolbar

  • The Objects and Color palettes

  • The Inspector and View Controller

  • Auxiliary palettes

  • Site management tools

  • The GoLive interface
