Dynamic Link

Dynamic Link

By now most of us have had the experience of requesting a piece of information from a database-driven Web site—airline schedules, a page describing an item up for auction, or a book review from the Sunday newspaper. When you interact with a Web site in this way, you are viewing dynamic content— Web pages whose contents are generated "on the fly," based on the specific information requested. This works on the Web because the HTML page where you enter your search request or click a link to dynamic content communicates with the Web server and with a database containing the information you're looking for. GoLive's Dynamic Link module allows you to build those links while you develop pages in GoLive. Once you make the links, GoLive generates the code needed to link to the database.

Dynamic Link is designed to support a variety of databases, but the version supplied with GoLive 5.0 supports only Microsoft's ASP (Active Server Pages) technology.
