Lesson 20. Synchronizing with Digital Video > Importing a Digital Video

Importing a Digital Video

The first step in creating this multimedia advertisement is importing the digital video that includes the footage of the spaceship and the soundtrack.

You can import digital video just as you can import other types of media, but unlike other media, digital video files are always imported as external files. This means that the Director movie includes only a reference to the digital video file; it does not include the file itself. Thus, you must provide the digital video file along with the Director file when you distribute the movie as a projector. Note that when the finished Director movie is played, Director looks for the digital video in the same relative place it was when you imported it; if you move it to a different location, users will not be able to play your movie.
