On Your Own

Many values in your scripts, such as the starting cast member number in the extend-retract range and the upper and lower limits on the range of motion, can be changed to global variables for more sophisticated scripting. Once you have done so, if you later want to change the way the arm is used or to add cast members, you will need to change only the variables instead of having to find all the locations with the hard-coded values and change each instance. Experiment with global variables by making these changes to your movie.

If you would like to view more advanced techniques in the actual environment of the Iron Helix game, open and play Robot3.dir in the Complete folder. To move the arm in this movie, click and drag the mouse in the gray area at the upper left of the movie. The arm will appear as you click and drag.
