Lesson 1. Director Basics > Opening The Text and Paint Windows

Opening The Text and Paint Windows

Director includes tools for creating and editing cast members. Among these are the Text and Paint windows. You'll look at these windows next.

1.
Choose Window > Text to open the Text window (Windows Ctrl+6, Macintosh Command+6).

The Text window is used for creating and editing text. In addition to changing fonts, font styles, and point sizes, you can adjust the space between lines of text (leading) and between characters (kerning). You can enter text from the keyboard or import the text from other sources.

2.
Close the Text window by clicking the close box.

3.
Choose Window > Paint to open the Paint window (Windows Ctrl+5, Macintosh Command+5).

The Paint window includes a number of tools for creating and editing graphics. All images you create using the Paint window become members of the cast. In addition to creating filled and unfilled shapes, you can use the tools to create many interesting effects with color. You'll use some of these tools later in this book to create as well as edit images for use in Director movies.
