Lesson 21. Controlling Sprites with Ling... > Using Rollover to Control Button Sta...

Using Rollover to Control Button States

As you learned in Lesson 19, user feedback is an important feature of any interactive movie. In this task, you will learn some new techniques to provide visual cues to users when they click a button. You will use Lingo to switch between two different states of a button: a normal state and a highlighted state.

While you are holding down the mouse button, a properly constructed button remains highlighted only as long as the pointer is directly over the button. If you slide the pointer off the button (while keeping the mouse button pressed), the button should revert to its normal state. When you release the mouse button, the button should trigger its associated action only if the mouse pointer is actually over the button itself.
