Lesson 21. Controlling Sprites with Lingo

Lesson 21. Controlling Sprites with Lingo

Until now, you have always determined which sprites appear on the stage and where they appear by arranging the sprites in channels of the score. In this lesson, you will learn how to control sprites directly with Lingo, which is often the easiest way to achieve an effect that would otherwise require a very complex score. Because you are already manipulating the sprites through Lingo, you can also more easily add actions that are triggered by user input or some other movie event.

Figure . In the Iron Helix game from Pulse Entertainment, players move a robot arm across the stage to gather DNA samples. The game extensively uses the Lingo techniques taught in this lesson to control the movement of the arm.
