Lesson 9. Built-In Behaviors

Lesson 9. Built-In Behaviors

Although the score lets you create extensive presentations with ease, Director offers much more power than can be found in the score alone. As you learned in Lesson 8, you can attach behaviors to your movies to facilitate powerful custom actions. Director 8 includes a library of useful behaviors that can easily be dragged and dropped onto your sprites and frames to create instant customized behaviors. These behaviors range from everyday useful actions, such as controlling video, to elaborate actions, such as permanently rotating sprites or interacting with the Internet.

Figure . By exploring Director's extensive Library Palette, you can easily give your sprites custom behaviors, such as making Captain Plaid's eyes rotate and follow the cursor's movements on the screen.

In this lesson, you will create two sprites by placing a cast member on the stage twice. You will then use the behavior library to select a behavior and apply it to the sprites one at a time and see the effect. Then you'll learn how you can apply additional behaviors and change behaviors already assigned in a project.

If you would like to review the final result of this lesson, open the Complete folder in the Lesson09 folder and play CrazyEye.dir.
