Chapter 15. Using Xtras > Including Xtras with Projectors

Including Xtras with Projectors

There are two approaches to including Xtras with a projector: You can embed the Xtras in the projector to make it one self-sufficient file, or you can include an Xtras folder inside the folder that contains the projector. If you choose the latter approach, anyone can easily see which Xtras the projector uses. Also, if you add movies that require more Xtras, you won't have to re-create the entire projector; you just update the Xtras folder.

To embed Xtras in a stand-alone or slim projector:

1.
Choose Modify > Movie > Xtras to open the Movie Xtras dialog box.

2.
If you need to add any Xtras that are not included in the Movie Xtras list, click Add, select the Xtra, and click OK.

3.
If you want an Xtra in the Movie Xtras list to be embedded in your projector, select that Xtra and make sure that the Include in Projector checkbox is checked (Figure 15.18).

Figure 15.18. Check the Include in Projector checkbox for any Xtra in the Movie Xtras list that you want to embed in the projector.

By default, all Xtras in the Movie Xtras dialog box are included in a projector. If you followed the steps in the previous section "Preparing the Movie Xtras dialog box list," this list accurately reflects all the Xtras you need, so you should not have to change anything for a stand-alone projector.

If you are creating a Shockwave projector or a slim projector, Director's default Xtras are built into the Shockwave player, but you still need to include any third-party Xtras you might be using.

4.
Choose File > Create Projector (Figure 15.19).
