Chapter 6. Using Paint Tools > Using Ink Effects

Using Ink Effects

Director features many ink effects that you can apply to the artwork you create in the Paint window. You can smear the edges of a cast member destined for the background of a scene, for example, or darken a foreground cast member. Applying ink effects to the cast members in the Paint window makes the effect part of any sprite based on the cast member.

You also can apply ink effects to sprites in the score, but in that case you modify only the sprite, not the original cast member, and the result may look very different. (See Chapter 3, "Building a Score," for details on how to use ink effects in the score.)
