Chapter 6. Using Paint Tools > Selecting and Moving Images

Selecting and Moving Images

Like most paint programs, Director's Paint window features selection tools that allow you to select all or just parts of cast-member artwork. Selection is almost always the first step of any operation. First, you select the image or a portion of it and then you do something to it—move it to another region of the Paint window, cut or copy it, rotate it, change its colors, warp it, and so on.

Lasso and Marquee Tools

A selection rectangle called the Marquee selects everything within its bounds. The Lasso, on the other hand, allows you to make a selection of any shape. Some of Director's paint features work only with artwork selected by one of the two selection tools; make sure that you follow the selection instructions in the tasks later in this chapter.
