Chapter 5. Playing & Refining Movies > Using Scene Transitions

Using Scene Transitions

Director offers more than 50 special effects transitions—such as dissolves, wipes, and fades—that you can use to move smoothly from one scene in a Director movie to another. Without transitions, scenes cut abruptly from one to another, often creating a jarring effect for the viewer.

Director features too many transition types to attempt to describe here, and in any case, you'll best understand the differences among them by trying them out. Experiment with the different transition types before selecting one for your scene. You can even create a sample movie that includes the transitions you want to test.
