Chapter 13. Creating a Projector

Chapter 13. Creating a Projector

When you want to distribute a Director movie that can be played without a Web browser, you need to create a projector. A projector is a file that works as a play-only version of your movie or sequence of movies (Figure 13.1), which the operating system recognizes as an application program. Users don't need to own a copy of Director to run the projector file; as long as their computers meet minimum hardware requirements, they can play it.

Figure 13.1. A projector encapsulates your Director movie so users can play it without having Director installed on their computers. Projectors have a distinctive icon so you can identify them at a glance.
