Chapter 12. Adding Sound

Chapter 12. Adding Sound

Sounds—music, narration, sound effects—bring animation to life. Adding sounds to Director movies is easy: You simply import a sound cast member and place it in one of Director's two sound channels in the score.

Director offers very limited means of editing an imported sound. You should do so before importing by using a program such as SoundEdit 16 or Peak LE 2 on the Mac, and Sound Forge 4.0 or Cool Edit 96 in Windows. You also can use these programs to set cue points in sound files, which makes it much easier to synch sprite animations to narrations, for example.
