Chapter 16. Adding Behaviors > Using the Behavior Inspector

Using the Behavior Inspector

Use the Behavior Inspector when you want to create a new behavior, modify an existing one, or change the order in which behaviors are executed for a given sprite.

To open and use the Behavior Inspector:

1.
Select a sprite or a frame in the script channel.

If you are creating a new behavior, you don't need to select a sprite or frame first. But if you want to view or modify a sprite or frame's behavior, select the object first.

2.
Choose Window > Inspectors > Behavior.

The Behavior Inspector opens (Figure 16.10). The top of the inspector lists all behaviors that have been assigned to the sprite or frame.

Figure 16.10. You control behaviors in the Behavior Inspector. This one is for the Library behaviors.

3.
Select a behavior from the behavior list at the top of the Behavior Inspector (Figure 16.11).

Figure 16.11. Select a behavior from the list at the top of the Behavior Inspector. You can close and open panes of the inspector by clicking the triangles.

4.
If you want to modify the behavior, open the editing pane, if necessary, by clicking its small triangle.

5.
If you need information about the behavior, open the description pane by clicking its triangular button (Figure 16.10).

All built-in behaviors have a description.
