Part: II PRINCIPLES OF WEB SEARCHING > THE PRINCIPLE OF THE EXPANDING WEB

Chapter 11. THE PRINCIPLE OF THE EXPANDING WEB

The Principle of the Expanding Web: The Web is always expanding, always changing, always (unfortunately) breaking down, and always rebuilding. If you're planning to do ongoing research, it's imperative to have a strategy to keep up with new sites and resources in your field of interest.

The Internet changes. Constantly. And what seems impervious to change is often the first thing to change. If that weren't true we'd all be using Netscape Navigator as our browser and WebCrawler or AltaVista as our search engine. Your favorite resource may go off the air tomorrow. You can't anticipate that, but you can plan for it by not getting yourself into a rut and by keeping yourself abreast of the new resources that are available on the Web.
