Chapter 39. Web Site and Domain Name Hosting > Building a Professional Web Site

Building a Professional Web Site

The home page communities discussed in Chapter 37, “Creating a Simple Web Page,” are fine if all you want to do is post a few basic pages about your family or hobby. However, if you want a more robust Web presence, you have to enter the realm of professional Web sites—and deal with all the issues that entails.

A professional Web site is more than just a collection of Web pages. It’s a complete, thoughtfully envisioned, well laid-out experience, where the home page leads naturally to subsidiary pages, and where all the pages share a similar design and navigation system. No matter which page users ultimately gravitate to, they should know that that page is part of a greater site, and be able to navigate back to a home page that truly serves as a portal to all that lies within.
