The most common activity for Web users isn’t shopping, and it isn’t online stock trading, and it isn’t online auctions or online gaming or even downloading MP3 files. The most common Web-based activity is searching. Most users spend at least part of every Internet session searching for some type of information—and hating every minute of it!

Most people hate searching because it isn’t easy and because they seldom find what they’re looking for—on the first try, anyway. Still, to find the information you want, you have to search for it—and the more you know about how and where to search, the more likely it is you’ll find what you’re looking for, fast.
