Genealogy is both fun, important, and another way to locate people via the Web. By one count, more than 20 million families are in the process of researching and documenting their roots, and the Internet is a great source of information for this process.

There are thousands of Web sites devoted to genealogical research, and a tremendous amount of information is available online. You can find things like surname databases, the Social Security death index, some directories of public records, and tons of other links and data.
