Troubleshooting

If you’ve had a bad experience with an online retailer, you’re not alone. Although the incidence of fraud is rare, poor service is more common; many online retailers simply don’t have the systems expertise to handle the crush of holiday sales, nor the customer service infrastructure to adequately answer customer questions and complaints.

When you’re having trouble with an online retailer, make sure you exhaust all available means of dealing with the retailer directly. This means that you don’t stop by filling in a Web-based form or sending off an e-mail; you should also obtain the company’s phone number and address, and use these “old media” methods to make contact with the company and voice your complaint.
