Chapter 34. Online Music > Using RealJukebox

Using RealJukebox

RealJukebox (available from RealNetworks at www.real.com/jukebox/) can be used to play back single audio files or playlists of multiple files. It can also be used to encode songs into the MP3 format; we’ll examine that functionality here.

Before you can record with RealJukebox, you need to configure the program to use the MP3 format. (By default, RealJukebox will record songs in its native RealAudio format.) You do this by selecting Tools, Preferences and then selecting the Audio Quality tab. In the Select a Format list, select MP3 Audio; in the Select a Quality Level list, select the desired bit rate. Select OK to close the dialog box and register your settings.
