Online Brokers

If you’re looking for financial information on the Web, chances are you’re already an active investor. If you want to do your investing online, an increasing number of online brokerages let you buy and sell securities right from your personal computer. Some of these firms even offer special services just for day traders.

Before you use an online broker, you’ll need to establish an account with that firm. This is typically an offline procedure; you’ll need to print out some forms, fill them in and sign them, and then mail them back to the broker. (Some brokers also require you to make an initial deposit of funds before you can initiate trading.) After all the paperwork is filled out and registered, you’ll be given a user ID and password, and you’re then ready to begin your online trading.
