Chapter 24. Online Investing > General Financial Information

General Financial Information

In the old days (pre-Web), if you wanted investment advice, you had to pay a financial advisor some big bucks. Today, however, you can search the Web to find financial advice of every conceivable flavor, and you can use the Internet to research financial options, track stock performance, and even buy and sell stocks and other securities.

After you start searching, you’ll quickly discover a veritable plethora of Web sites devoted to dispensing financial information and advice. Most of the full-service sites offer similar services: stock quotes, portfolio tracking, company news, historical financial information, and even message boards where users can discuss the latest financial rumors. Other sites are more specialized, focusing just on mutual funds or in-depth company information.
