Chapter 31. Online Games > Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

If you’re having trouble playing online games, the first thing to check is whether you have the right software installed or enabled on your system. If you’re trying to play a Java-based game, you have to have Java enabled in your Web browser. If you’re trying to play a Flash-or Shockwave-based game, you have to have the Flash or Shockwave plug-in installed on your system. See the instructions or help files at the gaming site for more details on better enabling your system.

The same goes with the more complex multiplayer games. Not only do you have to have the basic game software installed on your computer, you also have to have the gaming site’s networking utility installed and running. Because each gaming site uses different enabling software, see the instructions at each site for how to get up and running.
