Chapter 37. Creating a Simple Web Page > Home Page Communities on the Web

Home Page Communities on the Web

The easiest way to get your own personal Web page is to use a service that specializes in the creation and hosting of individual Web pages. These sites—some of which host millions of unique pages—are called home page communities, and they typically offer a variety of Web page-creation tools and hosting options. More often than not, these sites are free.

When you join a home page community, you’re provided with a specified amount of space on their servers, typically in the 15MB–50MB range. (In case you’re wondering, 50MB should be more than enough to host your personal pages—unless you’re attempting to recreate the Encyclopedia Britannica online!) You can then use the tools on the site to create your Web pages, or upload previously created pages to their site.
