Chapter 6. Browsing the Web > Browsing Faster

Browsing Faster

Whether you use Internet Explorer or Netscape, there are several settings you can adjust to improve your browser performance. All these adjustments are made through the browser configuration settings, discussed previously in this chapter.

Set a Larger Cache

The most significant speed enhancement comes from resizing the amount of hard disk space that the browser uses to hold previously viewed Web pages and graphics. This disk space is called a cache, and the bigger it is, the faster your browser will reload pages that haven’t changed since they were last viewed.
