HTML Editors

All of the coding presented in this chapter can be done using any text editor, and saving the resulting document with an .HTML or .HTM extension. For more complex Web pages, however, it may be easier to “draw” your page in a WYSIWYG environment and have the code generated automatically for you; to do this, you’ll need to invest in special HTML editor software.

All HTML editors work in pretty much the same fashion, even if their particular menus and toolbars may differ somewhat. You enter your text as you would in a word processor, and then use menu or toolbar commands to format selected text. You also use menu or toolbar commands to insert graphics, create hyperlinks, and add other special effects. The resulting document is automatically saved in HTML format.
