Site and Portal Registrations

Sign up here! Come join us! Just provide a little bit of your personal information, read our privacy statement, and agree to our terms! It seems that nearly every Web site on the Internet wants you to be a part of its returning community of visitors. Granted, some sites do have good intentions of treating your information confidentially, but it is up to you to make the decision of who to trust and who not to trust.

As a general rule, you should provide the least amount of information possible when registering on a new site or portal. If it asks for more information than you want to provide, e-mail the Webmaster first and ask whether providing that information is necessary and how you can register by providing less information. If the site will not downgrade its requirements, consider not registering with that site, or just fill in arbitrary information for items you know the site does not need. For example, if you do not see a reason that a portal site needs your home address and occupational information, just fill in fictional information when you are asked for it.
