Chapter 13. Securing Your Home Network > Additional Internal Network Protection

Additional Internal Network Protection

The configuration of WinRoute is to protect your perimeter network. This is your first line of defense. As we have already mentioned, you need multiple layers of protection to keep your personal data and systems secure. Your internal computer can use some enhanced security measures. You can add more of this security, such as outbound filter rules, additional firewalls, virus scanners, and spyware checkers.

More Firewalls

We have already discussed the operating system security measures you can take to strengthen your system. You can run a personal firewall on each system. You might not want to run a full-blown WinRoute installation on each internal computer. You can use any of the other personal firewalls we have already discussed.
