CPSR: Folk Songs of Freedom

In the last third of the twentieth century, technology became more important to our society. In fact, it began to permeate society. Before this time, technology was left up to “rocket scientists” and the like. It wasn't the business of ordinary people, and unlike today, technology wasn't really part of everyone's lives.

A group of doctors worried about the consequences of nuclear war got together to begin educating others about the physical dangers inherent in the use nuclear weapons. They formed an organization called Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR). They worked to promote healing and seeking truth. They are firmly against behavior that would endanger all people and sought to extend their knowledge to people who, perhaps, hadn't really considered that polluting the earth with nuclear fall-out would be detrimental to other than “the enemy”. PSR stands for telling it like it is, no matter how unpopular or unwanted the facts might be.
