What is Broadband?

In general, broadband means a communications network in which a frequency range is divided into multiple independent channels for simultaneous transmission of signals (such as voice, data, or video). Because a wide band of frequencies is available, information can be multiplexed and sent on many different frequencies or channels within the band at the same time. This allows more information to be transmitted in a given amount of time (such as more lanes on a highway enable more cars to travel on it at the same time).
