Chapter 5. ONLINE DISCLOSURES AND THAT BARN DOOR

A digital copy is a perfect copy every time. A digital copy is very easily transmitted, stored, and retransmitted, again and again. This is an advantage if you want to preserve something. If the information in digital form is information about you that you didn't realize was floating around in cyberspace without your permission, it's a distinct disadvantage.

We're all familiar with the old saying about closing the barn door after the horses are gone. Some things you think about doing to help yourself are too little, as well as too late. Closing the barn door to keep the horses from escaping before the horses discover they can leave is better.
