Chapter 14. Syndicating Your Blog > Syndicating Your Blog with JavaScript

Syndicating Your Blog with JavaScript

With JavaScript, it is possible to include a file in your blog’s HTML template that will render another blog. You can do this because JavaScript’s document.write method allows you to include text on a web page from a remote source. You can configure your blog so that other bloggers will be able to feature your posts if they so desire.

Why use JavaScript to syndicate your blog rather than RSS? Well, for one, maybe you’re not yet comfortable with XML. For another, you might already be familiar with JavaScript from building other features into your blog. Or still another reason for syndicating your blog with JavaScript is that it’s two projects in one. In other words, making your blog available for other bloggers to include in their blog means that it’s also available in one of yours. Huh? Multiple blogs on one blog. That’s all I’m saying. Sheesh.
