Scanning E-mail on a Dial-up Connection

If you’re connecting to the Internet through a slower, dial-up connection, you might want to download only the headers of your e-mail messages. The body of the message (including any attachments) is left on the server, so the download proceeds very quickly. You can then delete any junk mail messages you receive, and download just the ones you want to read from the server. This can be especially useful if you are on the road and connecting only sporadically, or if you’re traveling globally and paying per minute for your dial-up connection.

Note

You may not see the Work with Headers option if you are using Hotmail or certain other types of e-mail accounts.
