Accessing E-mail from Others’ Computers

Sometimes you can use someone else’s computer to download your Outlook e-mail. You might be at a client’s office who gives you this permission, or you might be connecting through a cyber café. To connect to your e-mail account, you need to know four things.

  • Your password for that e-mail account

  • The URL for your POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3)(incoming) mail server

  • The URL for the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)(outgoing) mail server used at the site you’re at (you might need to ask an administrator or user for this)
